Real Estate Text Marketing – If you haven’t noticed, the real estate game has changed. Long gone are the days when realtors could simply put up a sign in a home’s yard and sell a home. Now realtors upload photos, videos and even create virtual tours to sell a home. This shift in the realty landscape mirrors our modern society. And there’s another important shift taking place right now–real estate text message marketing.
What is real estate text marketing and why does it matter?
What is real estate text marketing and why does it matter? Click To TweetTexting has become ubiquitous for the up-and-coming generation, with 95 percent of 18-25 year olds considered “texters”, but even the average adult spends 23 hours, nearly a full day, per week texting. So, what does this mean for you, the realtor who’s trying to help someone sell or purchase a home?
Well, it means that once again, your game plan must change. Instead of putting all your efforts into a professional online presence, you must also balance pulling potential customers in by marketing to them via real estate text marketing.
But let’s step back for a moment, what is real estate text marketing?
Real estate text marketing is just what is sounds like. It’s marketing to potential customers via text message. For example, say you put up a yard sign, instead of only putting your name and number to call, you include a 24/7 text message info line. When the potential customer driving by texts your keyword to the phone number, an instantaneous response is generated giving them the details of the home while also collecting data about the potential customer.
This text message method of finding potential customers makes even more sense when you look at the data that supports it. Currently, 49 percent of buyers expect an instant response from their realtor and 98 percent of home buyers consider their mobile device a valuable tool. Most people don’t go anywhere without their mobile device.
But real estate text message marketing isn’t just limited to yard signs, its uses are innumerable. Have business cards? Put it on your card and voila!, an instant list of the homes you are selling are available to whomever texts that number. Hosting an open house? Put it on the greeting sign and you can greet potential customers by name as they enter. Still using brochures? Put it on your brochure and lead potential home buyers to the photos, videos and virtual tour of that home or a whole host of homes. Hosting a class for other realtors to attend? Put it on the sign in sheet and have instant access to who’s attended without manually inputting each name. The possibilities are endless!
Now, there are a lot of companies that have taken this idea of text marketing to fruition. Trumpia, Club Texting, Txt 180, EZ Texting, goomzee, Tatango, Text Marks, Drivebuy Technologies and RealtyFlux to name just a few. Even big box real estate companies offer some version of text marketing. After a simple Google search, you will find hundreds of companies to use.
But you may well be asking yourself, is this real estate text marketing stuff really as big a deal as it seems? Yes! Millennials comprise 32 percent of the buying market currently and that number is only going to grow. They are the highest users of texting and in only a few years will dominate the real estate buying market. And 40 percent of current buyers prefer to communicate with their agents via text, but only 15 percent of agents are using text to communicate.
Plus, agents who use the automated text message info line on their yard signs are getting 8 times as many leads than agents who just use yards signs with their phone number only.
Therefore, it’s in your own best interest to start finding ways you can incorporate text marketing into your normal routine. Look for simple, automated ways to use text marketing, but don’t get intimidated. Real estate text message marketing is as easy as you make it.
